Dash Cameras

You know how people drive here. The brake-check, the lane change into your door, the guy who backs into you in a lot and drives off. Without footage it is your word against theirs, and that is a coin flip with your insurance rate riding on it. With footage it is not a conversation. It is a file.

Anybody can suction a camera to the glass and run the cord to the cigarette lighter. Then the wire hangs across your dash, the socket you needed is gone, and the camera stops recording the second you switch the car off — which is exactly when most parking lot damage happens.

We hardwire. Camera at the top of the windshield behind the mirror, where it sees the road and you never see it. Cable up into the headliner, down the A-pillar behind the trim, along the kick panel, into the fuse box on a properly fused circuit with a factory ground. Nothing visible in your cabin, nothing plugged into anything you wanted to use.

Rear cameras are where the labor is. The cable runs the whole length of the vehicle behind trim, then passes through the rubber boot in the tailgate so it flexes every time the door opens and still works in three years. Shops that do not want to do that run it outside the boot, and it chafes through. On SUVs, trucks and hatchbacks that rear run is most of the job.

Parking mode: hardwired means the camera keeps watching when the car is off. We set a low-voltage cutoff so it stops well before your battery is at risk.
